More Than 700 Homes Planned for Hermitage
Developers are making strides with two new subdivisions in the Hermitage area. They’ll bring nearly 800 houses to the area and they’re hoping to attract families and older citizens.
According to The Tennessean, the developers already have their rezoning approvals. Now, they’re taking the next steps in their sites. Craighead Development and Ole South Properties are responsible for one of the developments. They’ll build 500 houses on the 200-plus acre Binns Farms. Beazer Homes also bought nearly 100 acres in the area for over $4 million. They’re building 289 houses in Magnolia Farms.
This is all part of a larger plan. Hermitage’s leaders are hoping to alter the demographics in that area. Currently, it’s home to younger, single residents. They’re hoping to switch that to older residents and families. Craighead and Ole South are trying to attract senior citizens ages 55 and up.
“Young singles don’t have the disposable income like more established families and seniors,” Kevin Rhoten, the area’s Metro Councilman, explains.
The process won’t happen too rapidly but they do hope some of the homes are ready in late 2018 or early 2019. Some work should start within the next several months and construction will hopefully begin within a year.
