Here’s How to Do Organic Lawn Care the Right Way
It seems the whole world is going organic these days. Whether it be organic produce or all-natural dog food, the trend is here to stay.
Organic lawn care is becoming increasingly popular, with families trying to protect their children and pets. Although it seems like organic lawn care is easy, there are a few things to know. Here are a few tips, and things to avoid in your all-natural lawn care, from Realtor.com.
Start with the Grass
Picking the right type of grass for your yard is a key step to successful lawn maintenance. You may be having difficulty because you’re actually growing the wrong type of grass. Take note of how much sun your yard gets, how much wear and tear it’s getting and any other things you notice. Lowe’s has more tips for selecting the one that’s right for you.
Pull the Weeds
There are a ton of myths out there about eliminating weeds the organic way. Unfortunately, while you can use boiling water to remove weeds, it won’t work long term. Vinegar also isn’t a good idea because, for it to be effective, it would have to actually be harmful. The best way to get rid of weeds? The old-fashioned way! Get down and dirty and pick them when they start to grow. To make it a little easier, pull them when they’ve been wet for a couple of days.
Epsom Salt won’t Give You Green Grass
This is another huge myth about organic lawn care. According to Realtor.com, Epsom salt does work but only with other maintenance. If you want to do this, use it with a great fertilizer. It won’t work on its own.
Consider Hiring Someone
If you really want to do an organic lawn the right way, consider calling professionals. Sure you’re spending more money but you’re getting people who know what they’re doing. They’re experienced in this department and can help you get what you want and need out of your lawn.
