Four Tips to Create Your Perfect Outdoor Space
It’s that time of year again. The temperatures are rising which means it’s time for outdoor BBQs and parties. But what’s a summer party without the perfect outdoor space?
Do you have a backyard but just aren’t happy with it? Want to spruce it up before having any parties? We’ve got some tips to help you create your perfect outdoor space.
Brainstorm What You Want
The first step to getting your perfect backyard is to think of what matters to you. Do you want a vegetable garden? Would you like the perfect space to grill and chill? Do you want an area for outdoor activities like cornhole? List the most important things to you and use that as a starting point.
Take Inventory of Your Area
Next, it’s important to take inventory of what you already have and what you need to get rid of. Are there broken pots in your backyard? Do you have dead plants or trees? What is salvageable and what is not? Then you can start to figure out where you can build and where you can’t. Remember to think of your HOA restrictions when planning.
Create a Plan
Get old school and grab a pencil and paper and start bringing your vision to life. If you think your project is too elaborate for that, try creating it on your computer with some free design software. Think of the little elements that you want and add those to your drawing once you have the main components. If you get stuck, head back to your wish list (or even Pinterest) for inspiration.
Execute in Stages
When it’s time to start executing your design, do it in stages. Don’t try to get everything done at once. Head to your local hardware store and ask for help if you’ll be building something from scratch. Enlist the help of your friends that have carpentry skills. Although this may be a lot of work, it doesn’t all need to be done in a day — or even a month! Trust us, it’ll be worth it in the end.
