Doug the Pug Buys a Home in Nashville ... Well, Kind Of!
Nashville's favorite social media star, Doug the Pug, now has a permanent resident in Music City! The pup was responsible for helping his dog parents buy their very first home.
Doug the Pug is a very famous (and very adorable) social media star from right here in Nashville. His following grew on Instagram and since then, he's met celebrities like Ed Sheeran, Justin Bieber and Katy Perry and made his own celebrity appearances. The little pug has 2.2 million followers on Instagram, going viral after an adorable video of him and a pug balloon was created.
Doug the Pug's mom, Leslie Mosier, quit her job to manage his accounts when he became Internet famous and now it's paying off. According to The Tennesseean, he's now earned enough money for his parents (Mosier and Rob Chianelli) to leave their apartment near Belmont for their own home in Music City!
According to the newspaper, they cleverly call it the "house that Doug built."
Your income may not come from a social-media famous pet but you can still afford to buy your first home if you budget and plan accordingly. Synergy Realty Network Broker Mickie Howell says that new home buyers should save money, even after their purchase!
"Having an emergency fund of cash in the bank is critical especially for new homeowners," she explains. "If choosing between a higher down payment of 20% or an emergency fund, choose to be prepared for those inevitable unforeseen expenses related to home ownership."
